ExtroBritannia

ExtroBritannia started its activity in early 2002 and it predates UKTA by a couple of years. In fact, most of the founders of the UK Transhumanist Association met originally at ExtroBritannia events.

We meet monthly to discuss the impact of technology on the human condition and related subjects. Our regular venue is in London (Conway Hall), but we have held events elsewhere in the UK and intend to encourage this trend. ExtroBritannia events take two forms: informal discussions on specific subjects, and more organised events with presentations from guest-speakers.

A few examples of previous events:

"An Introduction to Transhumanism" by transhumanist philosopher Nick Bostrom

"Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence – a practical approach to developing real anti-aging medicine" by biogerontologist Aubrey de Grey

"The Role of Enzymic Co-Factors in Aging" by life-extension expert Michael C. Price

"Nanotech 101 - an Introduction to Nanotechnology and Nanoscience" by nanotechnology education consultant Julian Snape

We also run a Yahoo Groups mailing list as a discussion forum and networking tool, and a blog for UK and Europe-specific news seen from a futurist perspective.

Whether your interest is in meeting and networking with like-minded individuals, or taking part in discussion groups on subjects ranging from nanotechnology to the stem-cell research, from life-extension to immortalism, from transhumanist activism to extropy, ExtroBritannia is your ideal starting point.
